Man arrested in death of man in Sumter

SUMTER, S.C. (AP) — Sumter police have arrested a suspect in the death of a man found behind a vacant house last week.
Police Chief Russell Roark told local media that 24-year-old Qwinton Diquan Harper of Dalzell surrendered to police Saturday night.
Roark said Harper is charged with shooting and killing 33-year-old Shimone Gillins of Sumter. Roark says the men knew each other.
Gillins’ body was found Friday night behind a vacant house. An autopsy revealed he had been shot.
Harper is being held in the Sumter-Lee Regional jail. It was not known if he has an attorney.
