ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO) — From a bailout, to a total overhaul of its board and administration, South Carolina State University had a rocky school year. They made it through, but their success depends on your enrollment. And they promise, you will experience success if you join them in the fall. Tuesday afternoon, students, alumni, administrators and faculty came together to write 3,000 personal notes to returning and potential Bulldogs. The campaign is part of a push to get 2,650 students on campus this fall. “What better way to reach out to students, than to let them know we care with handwritten notes,” Acting President W. Franklin Evans says. The projected enrollment is what the University budgeted for. “It’s extremely important for us to bring in a strong class,” Evans says, “”…so we’re working hard not just to reach the 2650, but to exceed that number.” Evans says, the turnout for the note-writing campaign is a reflection of the University’s true character. If you’ve been accepted to S.C. State, be watching for one of the cards to show up in your mailbox. The freshman class starts August 12.
