Columbia , S.C. (WOLO) — On Tuesday, a midlands boy cut his hair to donate to Locks of Love. “I got mistaken a lot of times,” said Nick Godby. At first glance, it‘s easy to mistake 10-year old Nick Godby for a girl but behind the long brown hair is a courageous heart dedicated to helping others. “I hope it makes them happy,” explained Godby. For the first time in two years, Nick sat in the barber chair ready to cut his long, brown locks flowing just beyond his shoulders. “At first my big brother was growing it out so I just decided I want to do it,” said Godby. But after his brother grew tired of the long hair, Nick didn‘t and he decided to keep growing it out with one major goal in mind. “We realized that he was serious about growing it out and we told him if he grew it out 8 or 10 inches he could donate it so he was excited about it,” explained Nick’s mom Andrea Godby. Four, roughly ten inch ponytails later, Nick gave his hair to Locks of Love, an organization that creates wigs for kids with cancer or other medical conditions. “It made me so proud, he‘s all heart, it‘s just another example of how he likes to do things for other people,” said Andrea Godby. After a short ten minutes in the barber‘s seat, a visible outside transformation with a much lighter head of hair, but on the inside, the same 10 year old boy with a heart eager to give back. “I‘m doing something good for people who can‘t grow their hair out”
