Woman arrested for DUI after driving into parked patrol car

CHAPIN, S.C. (WOLO) — A woman was charged with DUI early Saturday morning, after she ran her car into a parked Chapin Police patrol car with an officer inside. Officials say the officer was taken to the Emergency Room with minor injuries. There was also a law enforcement explorer in the car. That person was okay. The crash occurred at Brighton Blvd and Columbia Ave in the town limits of Chapin. South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated. Police say Emma Ellis was traveling on Columbia Ave, ran off the road, through the ditch and struck the rear of the patrol car. Ellis was arrested and charged with DUI by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. She was transported to the Lexington County Detention Center.
