Columbia , S.C. (WOLO) — On Friday, Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announced new charges against the father of two victims in the Holly Hill quadruple homicide last month. Sheriff Ravenell said 36-year old Christopher Wright is charged with 1 count of trafficking meth, 1 count of obstruction of justice and 3 counts of unlawful neglect of a child. “Because of his lifestyle, his kids are no longer here,” said Sheriff Ravenell. Sheriff Ravenell said Wright‘s way of life and history of dealing drugs led to the slayings of his two daughters while his 8-year old son remains in the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. He said Wright put his kids lives in danger. “We can prove that he sold drugs from this location,” explained Sheriff Ravenell. “These kids were placed in an environment that was dangerous by their father.” However, in a bond hearing Friday, Wright‘s attorney disputed the claims. “At this point it’s undisputed that Mr. Wright he wasn’t at his house, his kids weren’t in his care at the time,” said David Williams. In the courtroom, the mothers of Wright‘s two teen daughters stood nearby asking for wright‘s bond to be denied, but due to the severity of the drug trafficking charge the judge said he is not qualified to set bond on that particular charge. As a result, Wright‘s attorney asked for bond on all 5 charges to be dealt with in circuit court. The judge did set Wright‘s first appearance in court for October 26th. In the meantime, authorities said they are continuing to investigate the Holly Hill shootings to find those responsible.
