Columbia holding back-to-school bash for area students

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The new school year is just around the corner, and the City of Columbia is helping area families get ready.

The city is putting on its annual Back-To-School Bash on Saturday. The free event for elementary, middle and high school students is taking place at Finlay Park downtown.

Organizers say the event features a giveaway of a book bag and school supplies, which children must be present to receive. There are also health screenings and a health and wellness zone.

The event is free and open to the public and runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
