Historic district cafe broken into

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — A popular cafe and catering company in Columbia’s historic district was broken into early Sunday morning. Spotted Salamander Cafe and Catering Company owner Jake Wendling says he got a call from a police officer, who responded when the alarm went off. Luckily, Wendling says the culprit did not take anything. However, the person did smash the front window, scuffing up furniture in the dining room in the process. Wendling joked that the person must have wanted to be sure to get a seat during the weekday lunch rush. The restaurant is not open on the weekends. Wendling told ABC Columbia he planned to be back in business Monday.
