U of SC formally welcomes students, families at convocation
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — University of South Carolina President Harris Pastides and other top officials gather to welcome the school’s new students and their families at a formal event known as convocation.
The formal Sunday ceremony is being held at 4 p.m. at the Colonial Life Arena.
The event commemorates students’ transition into the university community. University officials explain the “Carolina Creed.” The Creed says students are expected to act with personal integrity, reject bigotry and show respect for others and their property.
A reception is held after the event so students may meet and speak with Pastides and other university administrators.
