Train derailment in North Charleston causes delays

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WOLO) — Officials with Norfolk Southern say crews are continuing to clear railroad tracks in North Charleston after a train derailment on Wednesday. The cause of the derailment is still under investigation. The incident happened shortly after 12:30 p.m. one mile west of Ashley Phosphate road, Norfolk Southern officials say. “The train was carrying a total of 19 rail cars,” official said. Fire, EMS and police responded to the incident.
