Woman in DC wins $100,000 in SC lottery

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — While in Charleston for business, a Washington D.C. man bought a lottery ticket for one of his employees that turned out to be a winner. According to SC Lottery officials, Deborah Jefferson’s boss mailed her the ticket in May. She’s been keeping the win a secret but was able to take a day off of work to fly to Columbia to claim her $100,000 prize. She told lottery officials she wanted to be sure the ticket really was a winner before she told anyone. Jefferson’s boss told officials he won’t be mad she won, only happy for her. The Kangaroo Express on W. Coleman Blvd.in Mount Pleasant sold the $100,000 winning ticket and will get a commission of $1,000.
