Toucan Tuesday partnership provides food for needy families

COLUMBIA, S.C (WOLO) — Harvest Hope Food Bank picked up the final bins of canned goods collected through this year’s Toucan Tuesday partnership with Riverbanks Zoo and Garden on Thursday. Since June 9, over 4,000 pound of canned food was collected. This was the sixth year for the Toucan Tuesday partnership between Riverbanks Zoo & Garden and Harvest Hope Food Bank. Over the last five summers visitors to Riverbanks Zoo & Garden have brought in 29,742 pounds of food, enough to make 22,878 meals. Toucan Tuesday offered the opportunity for two guests to visit Riverbanks Zoo for the price of one with a donation of two non-perishable food items for Harvest Hope.
