Group cleaning up roads around Columbia

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Volunteers are fanning out in and around Columbia to help clean up some of the area’s roadways.

Volunteers from Keep the Midlands Beautiful are picking up litter Saturday from roads in Lexington and Richland counties.

They’ll also be cleaning up some places within the city of Columbia.

Crews will be wearing orange vests. Organizers warn drivers to slow down if they see them along the side of the road.

The efforts are part of the Adopt-A-Highway and Adopt-A-Street Cleanup.
