Doughnut fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Local and State Law Enforcement officers will be camping out on the roofs of Columbia and Lexington Krispy Kreme locations for the annual Cops on Tops of Doughnut Shops benefiting the Special Olympics of South Carolina. For three days beginning Sept. 9 from 6am -10pm, be on the look out for officers on the roof and at the drive-thru serving up the chain’s hot doughnuts and collecting donations for the organization said Leigh Cheatham, director of communications, Special Olympics South Carolina The campaign will end Sept. 11. Locations: Town of Lexington Police Department: Sunset Blvd, Lexington Lexington County Sheriff‘s Dept./University of SC: Knox Abbott, Cayce Richland County Sheriff‘s Dept./City of Columbia: Garners Ferry Road, Columbia SC Highway Patrol: Clemson Road, Columbia This event is a joint effort of our amazing local and state law enforcement agencies who are part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics South Carolina. The LETR is the largest grassroots fundraising, awareness and support organization for Special Olympics South Carolina; in 2014, ten statewide Cops on Tops events raised $83,000.
