Heavy rains lead to flooding in and around Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) _ Heavy rains have led to flooding in some parts of the Charleston area. More than six inches of rain have fallen in some areas since 5 a.m. Monday. The National Weather Service reports that a flash-flood watch has been extended until 10 a.m. Flooding has been reported in the West Ashley area and in some North Charleston neighborhoods. Local media outlets report that some streets in the downtown historic district have been closed as a precaution. Multiple traffic accidents have been reported on Interstates 26 and 526.
