Deputies: 13-year-old boy in custody in death of his mother

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a 13-year-old boy has been taken into custody in the death of his mother. Investigators said a contractor found the woman’s body Tuesday morning when he came to work on her house in Greenville. Greenville County deputies said in a news release that the boy was found walking down the street several hours after his mother was found dead. His name was not released because of his age. The Associated Press generally doesn’t identify juveniles charged with crimes, and thus isn’t identifying the mother. The boy is currently charged as a juvenile and his case will first be presented in Family Court. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office says an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday. Authorities released few other details about the case.
