Scott to respond to SC Brig for Guantanamo Detainee

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WOLO) – U.S. Senator Tim Scott will hold a press conference to address the surveying of a Charleston Naval Consolidated Brig Charleston as the new home for Guantanamo detainees. During his meeting, the Republican Senator plans to reiterate his call for an immediate halt to any plan to relocate dangerous international terrorists currently held in the Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp in Cuba to any domestic sites on US soil officials say. President Obama announced that he would close Guantanamo Bay and the Department of Defense began conducting site surveys in the United States to look at options for places to house detainees. The Consolidated Naval Brig in Charleston, Fort Leavenworth in Kansas, along with several other undisclosed facilities are under consideration by the Obama Administration. The press conference will begin at 5:15pm at the Joint Base Charleston Naval Weapons (Gate 4) 1050 Remount Road in North Charleston.
