Air quality alert posted for Charlotte on game day

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The anticipation of a new college football season isn’t the only thing hanging in the air in Charlotte.

Environmental officials have issued an air quality alert for Thursday for Charlotte and the surrounding counties.

Authorities say higher levels of ground level ozone could cause breathing problems in people with asthma or other respiratory disorders.

The code orange advisory also suggests active children and adults limit their time outdoors.

The alert last until 9 p.m. Kickoff in Charlotte for North Carolina against South Carolina is 6 p.m. at Bank of America Stadium.
