Gamecocks Hold Off UNC, 17-13

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Gamecocks are 1-0 to start the 2015 season after topping the UNC Tar Heels 17-13 on Thursday night in Charlotte, N.C. USC held UNC scoreless in the second half. A 48-yard touchdown run by Shon Carson in the fourth quarter gave Carolina the eventual 17-13 lead. With under 4:00 to play, USC linebacker Skai Moore intercepted North Carolina quarterback Marquise Williams in the endzone on a 4th-and-goal attempt from USC’s 8-yard-line. South Carolina would run the clock out on the following possession and hold on for the 17-13 win. USC head coach Steve Spurrier is now 10-1 in season openers at South Carolina.
