ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO) — A St. Matthews man is behind bars after police say he set his common-law wife on fire Tuesday and watched her burn. St. Matthews Police Chief William Smalls. Jr. told ABC Columbia that Willie James Randolph was charged with attempted murder when he appeared before Calhoun County Magistrate Bob Lake for a bond hearing Thursday. The St. Matthews police were called to Briggman’s Party Shop on Tuesday, where multiple witnesses reported that a man poured gasoline on a woman and set her on fire, according to police. The woman suffered severe burns and was transported to the burn center in Augusta, Ga.
