FBI officials in Conway for seminar about church violence

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Federal Bureau of Investigation officials are again talking about violence in churches and other houses of worship during a presentation that follows the shootings at a church in Charleston.

The FBI says Special Agent in Charge David A. Thomas is in Conway on Thursday for a symposium at Langston Baptist Church.

Since the shootings of nine parishioners at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in June, FBI officials have been visiting churches around the state, talking about what steps to take when facing violence.

Gatherings are planned for other cities including Columbia, Charleston and Rock Hill.
