Missouri Suspends Mauk For USC Game

USC star linebacker Skai Moore talked up this year’s Gamecocks game at Missouri this offseason, saying playing against Tigers quarterback Maty Mauk was the personal match-up he was looking forward to the most. Moore won’t get a chance to get a hit in on Mauk. Tuesday, Missouri announced the junior quarterback has been suspended for this Saturday’s noon game for violating team rules. Junior reserve offensive lineman Malik Cuellar has also been suspended. Missouri said both players’ status with the team will be evaluated after the noon game against USC. Mauk has 22 career starts at Missouri. Through four games this season the junior has 654 passing yards, 6 TD passes and 4 interceptions. Mauk is also the Tigers’ second leading rusher this season. Mauk’s suspension means freshman Drew Lock is in line to get his first career start. Lock is 15 of 25 passing for 225 yards, a touchdown and an interception. The offseason talk between USC’s Moore and Missouri’s Mauk happened at SEC Media Days. “(Mauk) was talking some trash in (last year’s) game,” Moore said this summer. “So I’m definitely looking for him.” “Us and Missouri don’t really have that great a relationship,” Moore said. “We really don’t like each other.”
