Wife of fallen officer shares message via Facebook

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The wife of slain Forest Acres police officer, Gregory Alia, shared a Facebook post to thank everyone for their support as she mourns the loss of her husband.

Alia was killed in the line of duty on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The veteran officer was fatally shot just before 8 a.m. during a struggle with a suspect inside Richland Mall.

From Kassy Alia to everyone:

“My friends, where do I begin to show my gratitude and appreciation for the outpouring of love and support shown today? It may take time but I plan on thanking each one of you as I can. Thank you.

My husband was kind. He was warm. He was hilarious. He was patient. He was forgiving. He was loyal. He was just. He was honest. He was anything and everything you could hope to find in one single person. He was my everything.

How lucky I am to have had the past seven years with this man and how lucky he was to have known Sal for 6 whole months.

The contributions on the gofundme account are breathtaking. How proud my husband would be of all of the good and generosity being shown to support Sal and I.

Two requests:

1. Please share any memories you have of Greg. They will help me during this time and they will help Sal learn of the man his father was.

2. Please share stories of cops doing good everywhere. This can be the everyday things that happen all the way up to the ultimate sacrifice. My husband was a hero. Other cops are too. What about if we got a hashtag “ª#”Žherosinblue”¬ going?

My husband was my world, my everything. I am so so proud and grateful to have been able to share in his life.”
