COLUMBIA, S.C. — Steve Spurrier opened his press conference Tuesday reflecting on the devastating floods in South Carolina that have left 14 dead and thousands without power and water this week. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the flood victims in South Carolina and the Columbia area,” Spurrier said Tuesday. “We’re really pulling for them. We really appreciate the first responders and law enforcement agencies.” Spurrier added he sent a contribution to the Red Cross Tuesday. “Hopefully these waters will get out of here as quickly as possible,” said Spurrier. “We’re fortunate out where I live there were no problems getting in and out, but other areas certainly have a lot of tragedy that has happened.” Spurrier was asked Tuesday if USC’s upcoming game against (7) LSU could be a brighter spot for South Carolina residents, though Spurrier said he’s only focused on making his team better.
