Two victims recovered after overnight flooding incident

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) –Richland County Coroner Gary Watts released the names of two individuals who were recovered from their vehicle Wednesday on Congaree Road at Cedar Creek. The bodies of 58-year-old Robert Vance of Lexington, KY, and 53-year-old Ricky McDonald of Chesapeake, OH were recovered from the vehicle. Coroner Watts said that the men were subcontractors for the railroad. They along with three other subcontractors were travelling to a job site when their vehicle left the roadway and became submerged in the flood waters; the other three individuals were able to get out of the vehicle Watts said. Deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department are reminding citizens not to drive around or remove traffic barriers. Nine people have died so far due to drownings in Richland County.
