Nunez Not Playing Against LSU

Lorenzo Nunez was not slated to start against LSU. Now he won’t play at all. The freshman quarterback who leads the Gamecocks in passing and rushing this season was not in uniform in pregame warm-ups in Baton Rouge Saturday afternoon. Nunez sprained his shoulder late in the 4th quarter of last Saturday’s 24-10 USC loss at Missouri. During his radio call-in show Thursday, Steve Spurrier announced Perry Orth would start at quarterback but expected Nunez to play in some capacity. Orth, a former walk-on, will start his second career game against LSU. The Gamecocks lost 52-20 in his first start earlier this season at Georgia.
