Columbia man charged with attempted murder for hit-and-run

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Richland County Sheriff’s Deputies say they arrested a 72-year-old Columbia man for the attempted murder of a South Carolina Guardsman. Authorities say Charles Kauffman deliberately hit Robert Kuenzli, who is a School Resource Officer for Richland School District Five, with his car at Harvest Hope Food Bank, and drove off. Kauffman appeared in bond court Sunday. He received a $75,000 surety bond. He must post 10% of it to be released. If he is released, he will wear a GPS tracking device and be on house arrest. Kuenzli will appear at a press conference with Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott Monday.
