Work continues around the city following flooding

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — During a press conference MondayCity of Columbia mayor Steve Benjamin said he believes the city is headed in the right direction. “We’ve been making great progress by working together,” Benjamin said. For the first time in the city’s history the entire system was on boil water advisory, officials said. Officials cautioned that there would be at least several days possibly weeks until the entire system free from boil water advisory. Water distribution sites will remain open until boil water advisories repealed. City Manager Teresa Wilson said, “The city of Columbia is open for business-that is significant.” Assistant City Manager Missy Gentry said the water supply is stable and secure. Mayor Benjamin said work on dam continues with team work from National and State Guards and engineers and that work will not have impact on water supply. Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says the curfew has been lifted.
