Palmetto Goodwill donates $36,000 to Mother Emanuel Hope Fund

CHARLESTON,S.C. (WCIV) — Palmetto Goodwill donated more than $36,000 to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund on Thursday to benefit the victims of the June 17 Emanuel AME Church shooting and their families. The money was raised through in-store customer donations and the sales from church cut-outs, which was matched by the Palmetto Goodwill board of directors. “I was extremely touched by the generosity of our shoppers who freely gave their change from purchases to support our Mother Emanuel Hope Fund initiative.” Robert Smith, President of Palmetto Goodwill said. “The show of love in the aftermath of the shooting has been the greatest gift of all and an everlasting reminder of how Reverend Clementa Pinckney and those whose lives were lost lived their lives in the belief that a living, loving God can conquer all.” Started by the City of Charleston and managed by Wells Fargo, the Hope Fund has raised millions of dollars for the victims and their families.
