Sheriff: Going around, removing barricades still an issue
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott is reminding citizens of the dangers of going around and or removing barricades. Sheriff Lott stated that there are roads in Richland County that are still dangerous to travel on. “During the storms many roads, bridges, and dams were affected by the heavy rains and the tremendous amounts of rain have caused roads to crumble, become weak, or were just destroyed,” Lott said. Sheriff Lott is reminding citizens that barricades were put in place to protect and save lives; removing or going around barricades can lead to serious harm or death – removing them can lead to criminal charges. “Until the Department of Transportation can properly repair the damaged roads or bridges, please adhere to the barricades and follow the detours to your destination,” Lott said.
