Columbia Man Accused of Burning Child

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– Columbia police say a man is in custody after they say he placed a 7-year-old child in a scalding hot bathtub. Police Chief Skip Hollbrook says on October 7th Shane Johnson placed the child in the bathtub at a home on Easter St. and then waited two hours before taking the boy to the hospital. Investigators say the child’s burns were so severe, he was flown the Augusta Burn Center where he continues to receive treatment. Johnson is charged with Infliction of Great Bodily Injury to a Child.
