US Transportation chief talks transportation in Southeast

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx is joining state and local officials to discuss the transportation infrastructure in the Southeast.
Foxx visits Charleston on Friday to appear on a panel with North Carolina Department of Transportation Secretary Nick Tennyson, Charleston Mayor Joe Riley and Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin.
They will discuss transportation infrastructure in the area running from Atlanta northeast to Charlotte and Raleigh and in the area running southeast from Atlanta through Columbia to Charleston.
The panel is part of a discussion of a U.S. Department of Transportation draft report entitled “Beyond Traffic.”
The session is one of 11 being held around the nation this fall.
