Deadline approaching to apply for FEMA assistance

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Deadlines to apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) are nearing for 19 of the 24 counties that have been declared eligible for individual assistance by FEMA. Those 19 counties have deadlines next week. They are Bamberg, Berkeley, Calhoun, Charleston, Clarendon, Colleton, Darlington, Dorchester, Florence, Greenwood, Georgetown, Horry, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Orangeburg, Richland, Sumter and Williamsburg. The deadline for those living in Charleston, Dorchester, Georgetown, Horry, Lexington, Orangeburg, Richland, Williamsburg is Nov 4. The deadline for those living in Berkeley, Clarendon and Sumter counties is Nov. 5. The deadline for those living in Calhoun, Darlington, Florence, Kershaw and Lee counties is Nov. 6. The deadline for those living in Bamberg, Colleton and Greenwood is Nov. 7. Residents in Newberry can file until Nov. 12; Fairfield and Marion coutnies until Nov. 19 and Greenville and Spartanburg until Nov. 26. One or more the following criteria must be met to qualify for this program: one space·Individuals who are unemployed due to the disaster, and do not qualify for regular unemployment insurance benefits. one space·Self-employed individuals and small business owners who lost income due to the disaster. one space·Individuals who were prevented from working due to an injury caused by the disaster. one space·Individuals who have become the major supplier of household income due to the disaster-related death or injury of the previous major supplier of household income. one space·Individuals who are unable to reach their job or self-employment location because they must travel through the affected area and are prevented from doing so by the disaster. one space·Individuals who were to commence employment or self-employment but were prevented by the disaster.
