Spring Valley Students React to Officer Caught on Camera

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) — Actions of a school resource officer that are causing outrage across the nation, sent horror through the classroom. “He came right next to her and tried to jack her out of the desk and then when she wasn’t coming he flipped the desk back and flung her out of the desk and then flung her across the class.” Witnessing the incident Niya Kenny, says she felt obligated to speak out in defense of the student involved. “I’m just hysterically crying, like is this really happening. I couldn’t believe it like I’ve never seen anything like that in my life.” Kenny was arrested and charged with disrupting school. While she was the only one who spoke out against what was going on her feelings are echoed by others in the class. “I was not expecting that to go so horribly.” Tony Robinson, a Spring Valley Sophomore is one of the students responsible for catching the violence on camera. “My first judgement call is, get your phone out so that everything after this is recorded.” While circumstances leading to the altercation are still unclear, students say violence is never an effective solution. “There was just a thousand ways he could have handled that differently It didn’t take for the police officer to come in there and do that to that girl.” This sentiment echoed by so many rheou
