US Rep. Jim Clyburn, wife making announcement at SC State

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn, the first black lawmaker to serve in Congress from South Carolina since Reconstruction, is scheduled to make an announcement at South Carolina State University.

Clyburn and his wife, both 1961 graduates of the Orangeburg university, are making an announcement on Friday. A release from the school says the announcement on campus will demonstrate the couple’s longstanding commitment to their alma mater.

The school says the announcement will be followed by a presentation by a major South Carolina energy company.
