Columbia Jewish Film Festival hits the big screen

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The 2015 Jewish Film Festival kicked off this Sunday night with a tailgate and film screening. This year‘s celebration is noteworthy because it marks the 10-year anniversary of the Katie and Irwin Kahn Jewish Community Center. The featured film for opening night was Touchdown Israel, a documentary that illustrates how football serves as a venue for multicultural interaction, drawing players from all over Israel regardless of religion or ethnicity. The mission of the Columbia Jewish Film Festival is to offer outstanding world cinema that promotes awareness, appreciation and pride in the diversity of the Jewish experience. Reaching out to the entire greater Columbia area, the Festival‘s aim is to educate, illuminate and entertain through film; including history, language, people, the State of Israel and the history of the Jewish people from pre-biblical to modern times.
