USC students schedule 24-hour blitz to market nonprofits

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Several South Carolina nonprofit organizations are getting help polishing their messages through a 24-hour work blitz with University of South Carolina marketing students and their mentors.

The event begins Friday and lasts into Saturday at the School of Journalism and Mass Communications. More than 65 students and nine professional mentors help the organizations prepare marketing approaches and communication strategies.

The nonprofit organizations being assisted include The Nurturing Center, which helps families deal with issues of abuse and neglect. Also on the list are early childhood education center First Steps to Success; an after-school and mentoring program at Ezekiel Ministries; dog rescue group F.I.D.O. and an organization involved with research on congenital heart defects at the Medical University of South Carolina.
