South Carolina Equality hosting evening with Hillary Clinton

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Leaders of South Carolina’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community are hosting an event in Columbia with Hillary Clinton.

SC Equality is putting on “An Evening with Hillary” on Saturday at the Columbia Marriott.

Organizers say about 300 grassroots leaders from across the state are expected to attend, including SC Equality board members, staff, volunteer leaders and supporters.

SC Equality board chairman Jeff Ayers says the Democratic presidential hopeful’s track record as U.S. senator and Secretary of State shows she would work toward achieving stronger anti-discrimination protections as president.

Before the evening event, Clinton is scheduled to take part in a town hall in Orangeburg hosted by the South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus.
