“Stop the Violence” hearses parade through Columbia

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — A procession of hearses paraded through downtown Columbia Sunday afternoon, as part of a “Stop the Violence” rally. The parade started at Leevy’s Funeral Home on Taylor Street and ended at the Second Nazareth Baptist Church, where families remembered their loved ones whose lives were taken through acts of violence. They were driving through neighborhoods, where crimes occur daily, to serve as a stark reminder of what happens when violence takes the ultimate toll. Organizers noted how a similar rally had a positive effect in Detroit, MI.
