Columbia , S.C. (WOLO) — On Tuesday, the Columbia Police Department held a memorial service for fallen police officer Stacy Case. Officer Case was killed on Saturday, November 7th while responding to a shots-fired call in the Vista. In route to the scene, her patrol car collided with another police vehicle in the middle of an intersection downtown. At Tuesday’s memorial service, hundreds of family, friends and colleagues gathered to pay their respects. Her colleagues remembered her as a peacemaker and dedicated servant. “She was not the one to wait until everyone was told to do it , she was the first to do it,” said Officer Henry Ford. “She knew how to strike that balance between that guardian and being a warrior when its needed,” said Chief Skip Holbrook. Officer case was a member of the Columbia Police Department for 4 years and also served in the United States Army for more than a decade. Chief Holbrook described Officer Case as a natural leader and a goal-oriented person. Her colleagues said they will never forget the smile she brought to the room. “She was funny, very no nonsense but a sense of humor that could definitely take over the room,” said Officer Ford. In memory of Officer Case, the Columbia Police Department will retire her unit, Unit 115, as a tribute to her service forever.
