Hogg leads Texas A&M past SC-Upstate 104-64
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Freshman D.J. Hogg scored 20 points and six Aggies scored in double figures and Texas A&M rolled to a 104-64 victory over South Carolina-Upstate in Friday night’s season opener for both teams.
The Aggies possess a mix of experienced seniors and a highly-rated recruiting class, and the new combination was on prominent display from the start. Four of the newcomers, Hogg, Admon Gilder (16), Tyler Davis (16) and Elijah Thomas (11) combined for 63 of the Aggies’ 104 points.
Josh Cuthbertson led the Spartans with 15 points.
The crowd’s loudest roar came on an alley oop to Hogg from senior transfer point guard Anthony Collins, lifting A&M to an 89-54 lead with 6:12 remaining. Collins also tallied a game-high eight assists in his first contest with the Aggies after leaving South Florida.
