Gov. Haley asks residents to contribute to flood relief fund

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Gov. Nikki Haley is asking people to contribute to the One SC relief fund to rebuild homes following last month’s historic flooding.
Haley announced the fund’s creation Monday and the formation of a committee of South Carolina standouts who will help raise money. Members who spoke at the announcement included former Gov. David Beasley, University of South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley, former USC running back Marcus Lattimore and former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd.
The Oct. 2-5 storm dumped two feet of rain in some parts of the state, destroying homes.
Haley says all donations to One SC will go to supplies and rebuilding efforts, since her foundation is covering administrative costs.
Distributions will start with families that the Federal Emergency Management Agency has determined are most in need.
