Car Driver Cited, CPD Continue to Investigate Motorcycle Crash
COLUMBIA (WOLO) — Columbia Police continue to investigate an early morning crash at the intersection of Gervais and Assembly Streets involving a motorcycle and a car. Columbia police say the driver of the motorcycle lost control of his bike at being struck by a car around 7 a.m. Wednesday morning. The motorcycle was traveling westbound on Gervais Street near the intersection at Assembly Street, officials say. The car was traveling east on Gervais Street attempting to make a left turn onto Assembly Street when the two vehicles collided. Authorities say the car driver was given a citation for failure to yield right of way. The driver of the motorcycle was transported by EMS to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries, officials say.
