Shayok, Perrantes help No. 6 Virginia to 87-52 victory

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Marial Shayok had a career-high 17 points, London Perrantes added 15 and No. 6 Virginia powered past an opponent for the second straight game to reach the Charleston Classic final with an 87-52 victory over Long Beach State on Friday night.
The Cavaliers (3-1) will play George Mason on Sunday night in the championship game with the chance to completely prove — the Cavaliers opened the week with an unexpected loss to George Washington — that they’re back to their fast-paced offense, swarming defense selves. It’s hard to imagine there are too many doubters after their performance against the 49ers (3-1).
Virginia used a 19-2 run early in the first half to take control and Long Beach State could not answer. The Cavaliers held their opponents to under 24-percent shooting in the opening half and led 41-23 at the break.
Nick Faust led Long Beach State with 13 points.
