CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — No. 1 Clemson landed a defensive lineman considered by some the country’s No. 2 recruit in Wake Forest High star Dexter Lawrence.

Tigers coach Dabo Swinney showed off a copy of Lawrence’s signed, financial aid agreement to the media Monday.

Lawrence is a 6-foot-5, 330-pound lineman from North Carolina who visited Alabama, Ohio State and North Carolina State before committing to the Tigers.

Lawrence is ranked No. 2 overall in the class of 2016 by Rivals. Scout.com had Lawrence No. 4 in the country and ESPN.com had him No. 8 overall.

Swinney called Lawrence’s commitment “Christmas coming early.” The Tigers (13-0) resumed football workouts Monday in preparation for their national semifinal contest against No. 4 Oklahoma (11-1) in the Orange Bowl on New Year’s Eve.
