The Cockburn Cougars (Australia-2nd Division) MSBL squad have signed former Benedict College standout Marcus Goode.
Goode, a 6-foot-11 center, was playing with the Seattle Mountaineers in the ABA. Goode was also drafted by the Erie Bay Hawks in the NBA D-League in 2014.
Goode currently leads the Mountaineeres in scoring (24 ppg), rebounding (12.2 rpg) and blocks (3.6 bpg). He is averaging 62 percent from the field, 49 percent from 3-point range and 79 percent from the free-throw line. The Mountaineers currently are 22-3 in their league.
MSBL head coach Matt Parsons is looking forward to Goode joining the team. “Marcus will be a great addition to the program for the 2016 season. He comes with plenty of accolades and a lot of upside to his game, and will fit into the culture and values we have created at Cockburn,” Parsons said.
Goode will leave for Australia in February to begin his professional career. “Marcus has done an outstanding job for the Mountaineers on and off the court, and this opportunity is well deserved”, stated Mountaineers Head Coach Don Sims.
A former two-time SIAC Conference Player of the Year, Goode is excited about his journey to Cockburn.
“I’m really looking forward to coming to Perth and meeting the people of Cockburn,” he said. “This is a great opportunity for me and I can’t wait to get down there, this will be a fantastic adventure.”
