Heavy rain falls across the Midlands
Heavy rainfall Tuesday closed roads, tested a dam and reminded people of October's historic flooding

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Heavy rainfall Tuesday closed roads, tested a dam and reminded people of October’s historic flooding.
In Northeast Richland County, an all too familiar warning from law enforcement. Richland County Sheriff’s Department informed media of a dam cresting at Farrow Road and North Brickyard Road. Officials said crews from the S.C. Emergency Management Division were called to the scene to assess.
In Lexington County, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department reported a washed-out Murray Lindler Road at Old Bush River Road. The road will remain closed as the S.C. Department of Transportation fixes it.
ABC Columbia viewer Andrew Lewis sent us video of the scene from his subdivision, Westover, in Lexington County. Lewis says crews were already fixing damage from October’s flood, when more water rushed in Tuesday morning.
In Forest Acres, the City of Columbia reported several sanitary sewer overflows in the Lake Katherine area.
One resident said with the pounding rain, he immediately recalled the sounds he heard early October fourth.
Shell Suber has lived in Forest Acres since 1971. Tuesday’s heavy rainfall did not make him fearful of what could come, because the impossible has already happened.
The National Weather Service reported a record-breaking rainfall for the date 2.74 at Columbia Metropolitan.
