Botched Robbery Leaves One Dead, Two Behind Bars
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Two men have been arrested after fatally shooting a man following a botched robbery attempt at a gas station on December 13.
The Richland County Fugitive Task Force and the United States Marshal’s Office arrested Ibn Gadson of Moncks Corner and Ryan Alston of Eutawville are both charged with murder, two counts of armed robbery, two counts of kidnapping, two counts of assaults and battery and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.
Officials say that Gadson, 19, and Alston, 21, assaulted two male victims who were sitting inside their vehicle at the Sphinx gas station in the 100 block of Lee Road.
Sheriff Leon Lott said that after the men attempted to rob the victims, Alston fired a shot striking 20-year old Jeremy Davis in the upper body killing him. The second victim suffered cuts and bruises to the upper body and was treated at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Both men are being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
