COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — A Columbia couple is left sifting through the ashes, after a fire kills 11 of their animals Christmas Day.
The animals- two dogs, ferrets, parrots, a bearded dragon, a snake and a kitten- were rescue animals. Miraculously, two parrots survived.
Lane Crenshaw and Karie Bridge started taking in rescued ferrets and reptiles in 2010. They live in the Whitehall neighborhood.
On Christmas, the couple was visiting family in Charleston. They could not believe what happened.
The fire was ruled to have started with a broken heat lamp.
