Authorities: Inmates Threw Urine, Assaulted Officer

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) — Two men face multiple charges after they allegedly threw urine and assaulted a corrections officer at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in October.

21-year-old Shawn Moody, Jr. and 19-year-old Brendan Wallace are both are charged with criminal conspiracy, threatening life of a public employee, and throwing bodily fluids on correctional employee.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said that Moody and Wallace threw urine, made verbal threats, and yelled street gang slangs at the officer.

Officials say this is the second round of arrests in recent months made at the detention center involving gang members.

On October 24, 11 inmates were responsible for inciting a riot inside one of the dormitories.
