Cam Newton Hosts Charleston Shooting Victims for BUC Game in Charlotte

Cam Newton reached out to family members of one of the victims of the Emanuel AME shooting again this past weekend, inviting Chris Singleton and his family to join him as the Panthers finished out the regular season in Charlotte against the Tampa Bay Bucs.

Singleton’s mother, Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, was one of nine people killed in the church shooting on June 17, 2015.

During Sunday’s pre-game warmups, Singleton’s family joined the Panthers on the field, and Chris posed with Newton’s mother for a picture.

Shortly after the shooting, Newton traveled to Charleston to meet with Singleton. Panthers owner Jerry Richardson also donated $100,000 to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund.

Singleton and his family was also invited to New York for a batting session with the New York Yankees after the shooting. Singleton is a member of the baseball team at Charleston Southern University.
